Glossary
The terms used throughout StayEvident and the ISO standards it supports.
Adopted standard — A standard your organisation has chosen to work towards in StayEvident, such as ISO 9001:2015 or ISO/IEC 27001:2022. Adopting a standard switches on the modules it governs.
Annex A — The reference set of 93 information security controls in ISO/IEC 27001:2022. They’re grouped into four themes: organisational (A.5), people (A.6), physical (A.7) and technological (A.8).
Assessment — A run of the AI across every in-scope leaf clause of an adopted standard. It produces one finding per clause. See AI assessments.
Audit-day mode — A read-only, clause-by-clause view of confirmed evidence, verdicts and exclusions, designed for the audit itself. See Audit-day mode.
Audit pack — A PDF with the same content as audit-day mode.
Audit trail — The immutable record of material changes: what changed, who changed it, when and from where.
CAPA — Corrective and preventive action. An action taken to eliminate the cause of a nonconformity, or of a potential one, and to stop it recurring.
Clause — A numbered requirement of a standard. Clauses form a tree, for example 9 → 9.2 → 9.2.2.
Confirmed evidence — An evidence link that a person has accepted. Only confirmed evidence appears in audit-day mode and the audit pack.
Crosswalk — The mapping between equivalent or related clauses of different standards. StayEvident uses equivalent pairs to offer evidence for reuse across standards.
Exclusion — A decision that a requirement doesn’t apply to your scope, recorded with a justification. Exclusions apply to everything beneath the excluded clause.
Finding — The AI’s verdict on one clause, with its rationale, cited passages and confidence, plus your review decision.
Integrated management system (IMS) — One management system that meets more than one standard. StayEvident runs one IMS per organisation, with each standard as a lens over it.
Leaf clause — The most specific level of a requirement, with no sub-clauses beneath it. Assessments and evidence work at the leaf level.
Module — An operational area of StayEvident, such as Suppliers, Calibration or CAPAs. Modules switch on from your adopted standards. See Registers & modules.
NCR — Nonconformance report. A record of an output, product or service that didn’t meet requirements, and what was done about it.
Override — Replacing an AI verdict with your own, with a note explaining why. The original verdict is kept.
Proposed evidence — An evidence link suggested by the AI that nobody has reviewed yet.
Scope statement — The documented boundaries of your management system for a standard.
Statement of Applicability (SoA) — The ISO/IEC 27001 document listing each Annex A control, whether it applies, why, and the justification for any exclusion. See Statement of Applicability.
Verdict — The outcome of assessing a clause: Conformant, Partial, Gap or Not addressed.
